SMALL BUSINESS TRAINING SUPPORT/ COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT
The Financial Services Authority requires employers working with most insurance
products to have a training and competency regime in place. For small employers
and those for whom insurance may be a secondary part of their business,
this may be an onerous and expensive task. This may involve employing an
individual to cover this area of regulation, or require a large amount of
a senior staff member’s working time.
To allow the staff member/director more time to deal with other areas of
regulation and their core business activities, contact a director of Wilford
Commercial Training Ltd. We may well be able to support you in this
area.
From the Training and Competence sourcebook:
TC 1.2 Commitments
TC 1.2.1
The firm's commitments to training and competence should be that:
(1) its employees are competent;
(2) its employees remain competent for the
work they do;
(3) its employees are appropriately supervised;
(4) its employees' competence is regularly
reviewed; and
(5) the level of competence is appropriate to the nature of the business.
